Jeff Pierce of Mustad joins Capt Andy and Capt Rich for an amazing day of sea bass and porgy fishing.  They demonstrate the correct way to use a bait enhancer and the guys crush the big sea bass and porgies!  Jeff even scores a big fluke on a squid/spearing combo.  The techniques and bait preparation seen in this show illustrate not only how to properly prepare baits for bottom and wreck fishing, but just how effective bait enhancers can be!  If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us or  send us a message
The rod and reel combo seen on the show featured a Shimano Stradic 4000FI  7' Teramar rod rated for 10-20lb (model TMS70MH).  This is a very versatile spinning outfit and is perfect for working light bucktails on the bottom.

The spinning reel was loaded with 30lb Berkley Fireline which is attached to a 3ft length of 50lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a #10 Mustad Rolling Swivel. Two dropper loops were tied in the leader 6 inches from either end.  The rig is completed with a 3/0 Mustad Ultrapoint Beak Bait style hook on each dropper loop.

Two different baits were used.  A fluke strip/spearing combo soaked in Mustad Activate Saltwater Bait Enhancer (STBE-SALT).  This product is perfect marinade for any cut bait.  It is easily absorbed and uses pheromones to trigger the feeding response.  The other bait was a Berkley Gulp Alive 4inch Shrimp that was sprayed with Mustad Activate Spray.  This product is prefect for soft baits.  It is very easy to apply and re-apply it as needed (every couple of drifts).

Capt Andy and Capt Rich wear bibs, jackets, shirts, and shorts from Old Harbor Outfitters.  On their offshore trips they also use the unique fighting belts and tech shorts developed by the fishermen at OHO.  They also offer a huge selection of fishing bags.  The folks at Old Harbor Outfitters have a complete line of gear that addresses the needs of every inshore and offshore angler.
The raging currents and big fish made the net choice especially critical.  A Frabill Powercatch net with it's extendable handle was used and ensured that none of the fish were lost at boat-side.  This is a a great net that stores easily and all you have to do is slide, lock and load and it is ready to go!
The boat used was a 2895CC Triton powered by twin 250hp Mercury Verados.  This boat is the real deal. With a deep-v hull and sharp entry, the 2895 will knife through big seas that would leave most boats back at the dock.  The deck layout makes it the perfect platform for both inshore and offshore, plugging, trolling, or fishing your favorite hot spot at anchor.  Click here to learn more about this incredible boat or click here to learn about the gear and Raymarine electronics on this boat.
LoadRite supplied the tandem axel roller trailed used to haul the boat.  This trailer made launching and recovery a breeze and provided a real sense of security on the road.  Click here to locate the LoadRite dealer nearest to you.
